Calling All Librarians!

When Buzzboy first launched as a floppy comic, it was received about as well as ANY B&W superhero indy comic (insert crickets here). But when I collected the 4 issues into a trade paperback, or graphic novel form, sales took off, in an incredible way. Over the last 13 years, thousands of Buzzboy books have reached readers, and about 90% of all my sales have been through libraries.

It's funny, because someone told me, "Libraries are a one-time sale." Not only is that untrue, as new copies are ordered if a book falls apart due to reading, but a one time sale is NOT a bad thing when there are over 100,000 libraries in the US alone!

So, when Red Goant Publisher Benny Powell approached me about doing Sidekicks Rule through RG, my main concern was "will we offer this to, and reach out to libraries?" The answer is yes.

Buzzboy is already available through Amazon, the Red Giant Store, and starting this week, in comics shops across the worlld, but it is also available through Baker & Taylor, the premiere supplier of books to libraries. Here is the info I think any librarian would need:

Harvey Award Nominee, John Gallagher presents this book that is a true family treasure for kids of all ages, from 8 to 80!
Editorial Reviews
Review
A-Plus! The energy of the lead character and his antics almost leaps off the page. --John Jackson Miller, Comics Buyers Guide

Serious art does not mean that you have to take art seriously... I am convinced that John Gallagher understands this truth at the very core of his being. He expresses it on every page of Buzzboy -- every breezy phrase, action-packed panel and wacky reference says emphatically that this is ART, and it is not at all serious... My only disappointment is that Buzzboy was not around when I was a kid. --Jimmy Grownley, author of Amelia Rules

Many Thanks...

This is definitely a time for thanks at Buzzboy Central-- thanks to Keenspot and Red Giant, for double teaming and convincing me that Buzzboy again has a place in Webcomics...

Buzzboy is thankful for Milkshakes!
Thanks to Benny Powell, a new, old friend in a way, for being my nanny at times, and a great business partner all the time.

Thanks to my family and friends, who have supported my comics craziness since, oh, about 35 years ago!...

Thanks to Steve Hauk, Rich Faber, Thom Zahler, Jen Rodgers, Vincent Sneed, Dave Napoliello, Jimmy Gownley, Harold Buchholz, Marc Nathan, Joel Pollock, Greg Bennett, Joe Murray, Brad Guigar, and so many others who have worked with me on Buzzboy, as both creators and advisors and retailers. And lets not forget the entire Webcomics Weekly crew (Scott Kurtz, Dave Kellet, Kris Straub, and Brad Guigar, again), whose book, How To Make Webcomics, has inspired me and countless others to not only do Webcomics, but do them RIGHT.

And thanks to YOU-- the thousands of visitors to this new site over the last few days-- it is really cool and appreciated, and I hope you'll keep coming back for more. I really love making Buzzboy comics, but I especially enjoy having YOU read them, share them, and share with me what you think!

Okay, let's get on with the show! :)
